BOSTON — A beachfront luxury condo that’s become a popular vacation destination for millennials is about to get a little more upscale.
The new Benediction Luxury condominium in Boston, one of the city’s priciest condos, is getting a facelift and will now have balconies that are higher and offer views of the harbor.
The condo, with a price tag of $1.6 million, was developed in partnership with New Balance, the company that made the sneakers that sold for $1,400 last year.
It’s the latest in a series of renovations at the luxury condo on Boston’s waterfront, which is also home to the new Boston Celtics arena.
The remodels will bring a few changes to the space, which will be designed by architect James Daley.
He also is designing a new lounge, a restaurant and more.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said he was impressed with the work done on the condo.
The renovation comes as a major challenge for the city, which has seen a drop in property values since the Great Recession.
The Benedictions condo has long been popular with young professionals.
But it has become an increasingly popular destination for retirees, with some locals worried about the noise and pollution.BENEDICT LUXURY HOTEL – The Benedicts luxury condominium, with views of Boston Harbor.BARTON, MA — The BenEDictions luxury condo, a three-bedroom, two-bath condo, has been a popular tourist attraction for decades, but the condos on the waterfront have become increasingly popular in recent years as residents age and are forced to live farther away from the beach.
The condos, which were built in 2005 and 2008, are now one of Boston’s pricier condominiums.
The current building is on the lower end of luxury condoportions.
The luxury condo has become a source of controversy for residents who say they are experiencing health issues, especially asthma.
But Boston Public Health says there is no evidence of any health problems.
The latest remodels are expected to add an additional 600 square feet of new space and create a “luxury” amenity for the area, the city announced in a statement.
The city said the changes include a new terrace that will offer more sun and fresh air, a landscaped patio, more green space and an outdoor bar.
The updated condo will be available in the summer, the statement said.
The project will take place in phases, with the condos expected to open in 2019.
