Roma have shown an interest in the goalkeeper of Serie A side Roma, but are currently short on cash, the Italian football daily Gazetta dello Sport has reported.
The 29-year-old stopper was left out of the starting lineup in the 3-0 defeat to Sampdoria on Wednesday after the club had already sold Nemanja Matic and Marcelo Bielsa to the Spanish side for €25m and €12m respectively.
Roma had also previously expressed interest in bringing Giuseppo Rossi back to the club, but the move fell through following a loan spell at Sampdori last season.
Rossi has been in good form since returning to Serie A after two spells with Udinese, but he is yet to play for Roma this term after the former Juventus player was left on the bench at the end of the 1-1 draw with Sampdora.
Romas boss Mauro Biello said Rossi would not be leaving the club this season, despite the interest from Serie A rivals Roma.
“I have nothing to say,” Biello told Sport.
“I can say that it’s very difficult to say anything, because it is difficult to understand the situation.”
We have a great player in Giusepe Rossi, he’s a player who is very talented and we’re lucky that we have him.
“Roma, who will take on Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday, also have the option to sell Giusepio Guarnieri, according to Gazetta.
