The population of Moroccan exporters knows a continuous improvement of the ensemble of ses indicateurs au cours de ces dernières années et a pu résister aux effets de la crise de la Covid-19. This is the ressort of a new study carried out by the Office of Changes which indicates that between 2011 and 2019, the total number of exporters has increased from 5,179 to 7,092, with a number of affairs in the export of 284.5 milliards of DH against 175 milliards. That 4,309 of these are active, compared to 3,226 in 2011, with an export trade of 282.4 million DH in 2019.

The population des exportateurs marocains poursuit l’amélioration de l’ensemble de ses indicateurs au cours de ces dernières années et défie même les effets de la crise de la Covid-19. C’est ce qui ressort d’une nouvelle étude réalisée par l’Office des changes sur l’analyse multidimensionnelle de l’évolution du profil des exportateurs marocains actifs.
«À l’image du développement des échanges commerciaux du Maroc avec le reste du monde durant les dernières années, les exportateurs marocains affichent une amélioration continue relative à l’ensemble des indicateurs qui définissent cette population», indicating the auteurs de l’étude. In fact, according to the dernière, over the course of the 2011-2019 period, the total number of Moroccan exporters has increased from 5,179 to 7,092, along with a number of affairs (CA) to the export of 284.5 million dirhams in 2019 against 175 million in 2011. Cette évolution n’a pas été freinée por la situation sanitaire current selon l’étude who noted that «I spoiled the effets of the crisis of the Covid-19 au titre de l’année 2020, les performances réalisées par cette population remaining supérieures à celles affichées au cours de la période 2011-2017».

Concerning the active exporters in Morocco, object of the study, they are on behalf of 4,309 operators in 2019 against 3,226 in 2011, soit a taux de croissance annuel moyen (TCAM) of 3.7% representing a moyenne part of 62.1 % of the total number of exporters in Morocco between 2011 and 2019.
This population, constituted by 60.7% of the three small and small active exporters, made up 99.3% of the global share of exports throughout the period considered. They registered an export CA of 282.4 billion DH in 2019. Toutefois, 63% of CA is realized by the three major active exporters who represent only 2.6% in terms of name. The analysis of the performances by sector shows that the active exporters of the automobile industry realized the most important growth in terms of CA for exports with a CAGR of 33.9%. Leur CA à l’export passed from 3.8 milliards in 2011 to 39 milliards in 2019 and leur part dans the global CA à l’export gained 11.6 points (2.2% in 2011 against 13.8% in 2019) . The active exporters of the agriculture, sylviculture and chasse affichent sector, quant à eux, la progression la plus elevée in terms of name d’operators active with a CAGR of 8.7% passing from 354 active exporters in 2011 to 691 in 2019. Cette hausse on behalf is accompanied by an accroissement du CA to the export of this population of 10.4% (26.2 million DH in 2019 against 11.9 million DH in 2011).

For ailleurs, the study also highlights a diversification of the exportable offer by destination and a better position in new destinations essentially in Africa. Toutefois, note-t-elle, l’Europe constitutes the main destination of the majority of Moroccan exporters, toutes tranches de chiffre d’affaires à l’export confondues. The étude also notes that exporters actifs relevant to the sector «other extractions of minerals» export mainly to the continent of America and the status of a stabilité dans la tranche de CA des petits exportateurs charactérisant le sector de l’industrie alimentarire et celui de l’agriculture sylviculture et chasse.
In other words, the young active exporters last 5 years realized an export CA of 33.3 billion in 2019, this is a part of 11.8% of the total CA of active exporters. Au titre de l’année 2019, 37.3% du CA à l’export des exportateurs actifs est réalisé par ceux age de 5 a 15 ans, suivis de ceux age plus de 30 ans avec une part de 26.1%, puis de ceux âgés from 15 to 30 years with a part of 22.1%.

Regional performances

• The distribution of the name of active exporters by region retains the same structure with a concentration in the Casablanca-Settat region.
• In terms of affairs, the active exporters based in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region and in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region report the most important evolution of CA in export, they are a TCAM of 13% chacun.
• The three major exporters are most important in terms of export poids in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Tanger Tétouan-Al Hoceïma regions (in addition to the Grand Casablanca-Settat region).
• The exporters active in the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Souss-Massa as well as Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma and Fès-Meknès export mainly to the European continent.
• The active exporters who export generally to the continent of America and Asia are mainly based in the Casablanca-Settat region.
• The exporters active in the régions of the Oriental, Marrakech-Safi and Souss-Massa export mainly from the sector of the food and cell industry of agriculture and forestry.
